![]() I hadn’t played Assault Android Cactus until its release on Nintendo Switch, which is a double whammy of “how did you miss this one?!?” Firstly, it’s a dual stick shooter, and every time it has been released on a new platform I had heard nothing but praise for it. I’m terrible at SHMUPS and the like, but give me a good dual stick shooter and I’m in my element. ![]() From right back with Robotron 2084, right through to the likes of Geometry Wars, dual stick shooters have been my go-to for extreme twitch action. ![]() The player is free to choose from several playable characters, each with its own set of weapons and protection. The game has as many as 25 tasks. Where it is necessary to move through the levels full of enemies, obstacles and sometimes even puzzles. There are no lives, they are replaced by android energy, which must be replenished by finding special batteries. Each weapon of the heroes has two types of shooting, each of which can be useful in one of the game situations, or in battles with difficult bosses.This will surprise a fair few people, but I’m actually quite a big fan of dual stick shooters. Top-down shooter platformer, the protagonist of which is an intelligent android investigator named Cactus. He was sent on a strange mission, the goal of which is to find out where the cargo spacecraft disappeared, communication with him disappeared a few days ago. Arriving at the place, he finds the ship, but boarding it does not seem impossible and the only thing that came to his mind was to ram the ship. The attempt was successful, and the hero finds himself inside the ship. There he learns that the crew consists of the same androids, which were attacked by hordes of cruel robots. Cactus needs to destroy all enemies on the way and get to the core of the system to disable it.
